we regret to inform you
In an effort to bring the Borough of Edgewood into the 21st century, this blog was put together as a novel way of gauging the community's interest in, and desire to support the restoration of the J.G. Kelly house. However, due to low community involvement as gauged by our social media intern using available blog statistics, the decision has been made to pull the plug so to speak, and proceed with the demolition of this nuisance structure. We have no doubt that the surrounding neighborhood will applaud this decision, and it will unequivocally fix the ongoing problems the Borough has had with the couple squatting in the building under the pretense of "restoring" it. Discussion of how to apply the funds that had been allocated to the initial stabilization of the building will be addressed at the next counsel meeting, as will the proposal for the construction of 20 ultra-modern condos on the soon to be vacant lot.
April Fool's Day?????
ReplyDeleteThe world seemed a little short on pranks yesterday so I couldn't resist . . .

Wait a minute. You're in Edgewood, Pennsylvania? You're not that far from me. Really. No foolin'.

Just a bit south! Feel free to let me know if you need any old house swag. Let's just hope my borough office doesn't start getting hate mail . . .
DeleteFunny! I like that you called yourself a squatter. The birds in the illustration are pretty awesome, too!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd be flying away from that ugly green behemoth as fast as I could too!
DeleteIs this house actually not in Edgewood? It seems more in keeping with houses in the Point Breeze /Thomas Blvd./Homewood area. I grew in Edgewood and cannot place this house in the Borough.
ReplyDeleteI assume you're referring to the actual house and not the silly April Fools rendering in this post? We're most certainly in Edgewood, and being circa 1886 are one of the older houses in the neighborhood. Even in this early stage of restoration a lot of people have told us the house is nearly unrecognizable from how it's stood for the past 80+ years which may explain your not recognizing it...
