heavy lifting

So, the piano ran away to join the circus...

Here's hoping she takes pictures, or better yet, writes us a postcard inviting us to the set...

Incidentally, the guys picking it up didn't know it was only being rented, and after the hell of loading it, took great pleasure talking about the scene where it was to be set on fire.

 Hilarious...

    1. More like trying to make sure nothing was crashed into. It was not a well controlled exit...

  2. They're not going to set your piano on fire, are they!?

    1. Haha, no, just venting (they REALLY aren't looking forward to bringing it back)! They were not prepared for how massive it was. Luckily we had enough wood in the back to build a pretty substantial ramp.

  3. *Phew*

And yes it looks absolutely huge and heavy. I'm sure they'd rather set it on fire and just bring back the ashes. What a great piece though!

    1. I truthfully don't know how they're getting it back in. All I was concerned about is that they didn't back out of renting it, everything else is just details lol...

  4. I used to have a square grand piano too and I loved it. I bought it intending to take lessons and start playing again and well that never happened. After loving it for 7 years I needed the space and had to sell it. The buyer thought he could come with 4 of his friends and move it. They tried with all their might and found just how massive these beautiful pianos are. He hired the mover who brought it into my house. The piano mover and one other guy came, flipped it on its side, removed the legs and put it on a dolly and wheeled it all the way to the truck. They made it look so easy. It was the best $300 he spent in a long time I bet, just to move these grand pieces of art

    1. Exactly our experience with professional movers as well. We actually had a tuner/restorer come out, but sadly can't afford the work it needs, so, no piano playing for me :-( I don't know where we'll cram in another piano when it's time for the kid to take lessons!
