Bad prep work is a beautiful thing. Granted it does nothing to help me with stripping the ornate moldings and details, but it's a start, and I'm forever indebted to the wonders of shellac.
We call this the Hangnail Principle. A little bit of picking at a hangnail, and pretty soon you have that baby peeled back clear to your elbow. It's the same with a little spot on anything in an old house.
